USE OF FIELDS
Fields are ONLY for team use.
If you wish to play a little catch or work with your child, you can use fields at the Town Park. You may also use Field 12 at Line Drive if it is unoccupied.
HOW OLD MUST MY CHILD BE TO REGISTER?
Please check the age chart to see if your child can register at TVLL.
For 2017 your child MUST be born between May 1, 2004 and December 31, 2012.
When registering new players, you must either upload 3 current proofs of residency in the Bethlehem Central School District (note: the school district boundry is different then the Town of Bethlehem boundry), along with a copy of your child's birth certificate, or mail them to TVLL, PO Box 164, Delmar, NY 12054.
CAN MY CHILD PLAY UP?
You may request that your child play "up", but that decision is solely in the hands of the Player Activity Committee. We try to put all children at their age and skill appropriate level. Sometimes the number of children at a particular age or level will determine whether we can move them or not.
WHAT ARE THE BOUNDARY LIMITS FOR TVLL?
You MUST reside within the BCSD boundary to PLAY at TVLL, UNLESS your child lives outside the BCSD boundary but ATTENDS school within the boundary, such as at St. Thomas. It is not contingent upon living within the Town of Bethlehem, rather within the Bethlehem School District boundary.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE TEAM NOTIFCATION?
Your child's manager will contact you by April 1.
HOW MANY PRACTICES AND GAMES A WEEK?
At all division levels, teams average two games per week: usually one on a weeknight (6:00 pm) and one on Saturday (9:00, 11:15, 1:30, or 3:45) each week. Your night or Saturday time will vary.Practices are at the discretion of the coach. We do not play on Friday, nor do we play on Saturday after 6 PM, unless necessary due to rainouts.
WHEN DOES THE SEASON START/END?
Practices start April 1st and the season begins mid April. Season ends with championship games and closing ceremonies on the last week of school or prior to the start of all-star competition.
WHAT LEVEL ARE TRYOUTS AND WHEN?
There are no tryouts for Youth, Junior and Farm levels. Major and Intermediate levels conduct tryouts and are usually held 1st and 2nd Saturday in March. Returning players to those levels from the preceding Spring do not need to try out. All new players and first time players to those levels must try out.
CAN I REQUEST A CERTAIN COACH OR TO BE WITH A SPECIFIC OTHER CHILD?
Yes, but only at Youth. Junior. Farm, Intermediate and Major teams are determined by a draft.
At Youth and Junior we attempt to make teams by neighborhood and/or school.
At the Farm level, we try to make equal teams based on the previous year's manager ratings for each player.
TVLL furnishes hats and shirts to all levels. Parents are responsible for pants, gloves, bats, and cleats (rubber only) or sneakers for youth. TVLL furnishes some helmets to each team, but over the past few years, we realize that most players bring their own. All catchers, male or female, must wear a protective cup/device.
With pending changes to bat rules, to take effect January 1, 2018, we do not suggest buying "expensive" bats for the Farm or Youth levels. All bats MUST be " USA Baseball (USA)" approved.
